Fishball & Meatball Noodles @ Chao Yuan Noodle 潮源面家

Fishball or meatball noodles? How about both with Chao Yuan Noodle's yuan yang noodles, consisting of 3 fishballs and 4 meatballs in their alluring tasty soup. Let's dive in with this fishball meatball noodles food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Starting off with their noodles, mee pok was the usual kind, cooked to the right springy texture. Topped with crunchy savoury ikan bilis to add dimension and taste. Sauce mix was greasy but tasty, subtly acidic with black vinegar, chili was spicy and ample. Soup base was rich and flooded with minced pork bits. The defining ingredients of fishballs and meatballs were pleasant and delightful. Although the size of fishballs were slightly underwhelming, they were springy and none rubbery. Same with their meatballs, none rubbery, as well as chewy and provided unparalleled comfort. At $5.50 a bowl, noodles were slightly lesser than other stalls, leaving us begging for more...

Flavourful Dry Mee Sua @ Chao Yuan Noodle 潮源面家

What to eat when at Chao Yuan Noodle? How about some dry mee sua with a bowl of hearty soup? Here we take a look at Chao Yuan Noodle's signature dish of dry mee sua food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Nicely plated with an array of colours. Mee sua noodles were clumpy but with the nature of mee sua, that was almost expected. But the sauce mix up was spirit up lifting, slightly greasy but balanced, spicy with their chili sauce and other sauced making it slightly acidic. A nice unique addition compared to other noodle stalls was their crispy ikan bilis. Minute add on, but packs an incredible difference with texture to the soft nature of noodles. 2 slices of abalone laid on top, together with a couple of scallops carefully crowned the top, along with alluring crispy deep fried pork lard. Followed that was a bowl of goody hearty generously filled soup. Soup was cloudily filled with minced pork, sweet...

Hearty Miniwok Noodles @ Ming Fa 明发

What to eat at Ming Fa 明发 besides their fishball noodles? We tried out their miniwork noodles or xiao guo mian 小锅面 for this food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Quantity of noodles were definitely more than other similar stalls, springy and yummilicious. Sauce mix is on the dry side, not overtly greasy, topped with braised mushrooms and covered with sufficient aromatic park lard and crispy deep fried pork lard. Chili added was spicy, adding the needed shiokness. We could just had the noodles and stayed perfectly satisfied. But came their bowl of hearty soul warming soup with tons of ingredients. To start of the assault of items, there was a huge meatball, a huge signature fishball, both packing a nice bite, a gooey freshly cracked egg that added texture and dimension to the soup that was filled with tons of porky bits everywhere. Next were tender and perfectly made pork liver slices, not over cooked, as well as t...

Lor Mee @ Traditional Famous Prawn Mee

Serving up yummilicious prawn noodles, Traditional Famous Prawn Mee at Ang Mo Kio 338 offers lor mee as an alternative as well in this food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Presentation was spot on, with minced garlic and chopped chili padi on top, deep fried fish chunks and thick braised pork slices. The two deep fried fish chunks were flaky and savoury on the inside and crispy on the outside. Braised pork slices were generously given, thick and tenderlicious, with intense flavour immersed within. Noodles were soaked within a luscious and laboriously made think gravy full of egg flakes and perfumed fragrance. With the addition of black vinegar, it was accentuating and irresistable. At $4 a bowl, Traditional Famous Prawn Mee's lor mee was packed with quality ingredients, appetite stimulating and filling. Definitely recommended.   What to eat at Jewel? How about trying out Tai Er? With over 300 over outlets in China, it has become a recognized brand. Opening their outlet in Jewel Changi Airport, we tried out their Sauerkraut Beef Noodles 酸菜牛肉面 in this food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) By far one of the best tasting item we had at Tai Er, their sauerkraut beef noodles was tasty and satisfying. Juicy and tender beef slices, thoroughly marinated to a point where it almost melts in the mouth. Sandwiched between chopped spring onions and sauerkraut, the beef slices were totally enjoyable. Noodles were springy and mouthful, similarly to their Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles. Soup or gravy base was somewhat similar to their Chinese Sauerkraut Fish, but much lesser grease, creamier, and savoury, complimenting their noodles. At $10 a saucer, portion may be lacking, but Tai Er's Sauerkraut Beef Noodles 酸菜牛肉面 was definitely yummilicious and recommended. T...

Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles @ Tai Er 太二酸菜鱼

What to eat at Jewel? How about trying out Tai Er? With over 300 over outlets in China, it has become a recognized brand. Opening their outlet in Jewel Changi Airport, we tried out their Sichuan dan dan noodles in this food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Portion was small and definitely not sufficient to fill one's tummy. But its quality was somewhat exceptional. Not overtly spicy, with a variety of texture thrown into the mix. Chopped spring onions, savoury well marinated and tender minced pork, crunchy dried veggies, and crushed peanuts. Noodles were amazingly springy and worthy of any noodles master standards. At $9 a plate saucer, quantity was definitely underwhelming, but this Sichuan dan dan noodles was definitely bursting with flavour and texture. Tai Er’s Sauerkraut Fish: A Unique Dish Worth Trying at Jewel Changi Airport

Looking for a unique dining experience in Jewel Changi Airport? Tai Er, a recognized brand from China with over 300 outlets, is worth checking out. We tried their signature dish, sauerkraut fish, and here's what we thought. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) The dish comes in three sizes: $48, $68, and $88, and we opted for the $68 version. When the dish arrived, we were impressed by the generous amount of tender, flavorful fish slices served. The sauerkraut fish was subtly savory and enjoyable, but quite greasy, with half of its depth being oil. The spiciness level was fixed, but tolerable. The dish was filled with dried chili, peppercorn, herbs, and more oil. We added enoki mushroom and Chinese asparagus, but it was hard to enjoy them amidst all the greasiness. To balance out the greasiness, Tai Er offers a drink station where you can brew your own dried tangerine or roselle juice. These sweet and refreshing drinks comple...
