A Taste of Tradition: Wanton Mee at Shunfu Market's Dong Nan Noodles 东南云吞面

Located in the corner of Shunfu Mart, Dong Nan Wanton Noodles draws a consistent queue, even without an English sign to guide you. But don't worry - just refer to the image above to find it!

While it may not be Michelin-starred, this humble stall delivers traditional wanton noodles with an old-school taste that hits the spot. The savory, sweet, chewy, and comforting dish is a testament to the quality of their ingredients and preparation.

The standout element of their Char Siew (barbecued pork) is its simplicity and intensity. The sweetness complements the noodles perfectly, making every bite a heavenly experience.

Not to be outdone, the noodles are perfectly cooked and nicely coated in the flavorful sauce. The generously stuffed wantons are a refreshing change from the stingy portions served at some other stalls.

The soup may not be the star of the show, but we did notice plenty of garlic floating on top of the broth as the uncle was cooking - a good sign of attention to detail.

At a reasonable price of just $3 per plate, we devoured our well-plated wanton noodles in a matter of minutes. The overall experience was simple yet satisfying, and we'll definitely be back for more.

Hunan Pork Belly at Xiang Xiang Hunan: Crunchy, Spicy, and Lip-Smacking Good

You know a dish is that good when you keep coming back for it. And that’s exactly what happened on our third visit to Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine 湘香湖南菜 —this time at AMK Hub. We already had high expectations from our past experiences, but once again, their Hunan pork belly blew us away. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) What Makes This Hunan Pork Belly Stand Out? First off, let’s talk about the star of the show: their Hunan stir fry pork , made with a heavenly combo of Iberico pork belly and lean pork. It’s a dish that really brings out the spirit of Hunan cooking—bold, fragrant, slightly spicy, and loaded with green pepper aromatics. The pork belly is wonderfully fatty and tender, with that unmistakable richness that Iberico pork is known for. The lean pork adds a nice balance so it doesn’t get overly unctuous. And then there's the rabbit ear fungus. Yes, rabbit ear fungus—also known as Mu Er or Yunnan black fungus . It...

Hooi Kee’s Hong Kong Style Roasted Char Siew and Roasted Chicken Rice: A Decent Meal?

Looking for what to eat in Ang Mo Kio, we got ourselves a simple order of char siew rice with roasted chicken for this round of chicken rice food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Char siew pieces were fatty and lean, a good ratio combination, with the fats roasted to a melt in your mouth consistency. We loved the gravy that drizzled onto the charred and caramelized parts, which elevated its taste and flavour. Coupled with the tenderlicious roasted chicken, which was soft and juicy even for their breast meat. Skin was crisp and tasted lovely with their briny sauce. Rice was fragrant and not greasy, and somewhat addictive together with the char siew gravy and chicken sauce. Chili was mundane, runny and spicy, complimenting the rice and chicken perfectly. @yumzyumzsg Hooi Kee Hong Kong Style Roasted - Roasted Chicken Rice with Char Siew Visit YumzYumz.com for their food review. #sgfood #foodlover #foodreview #f...
