Steamed Chicken Rice @ A & I Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice

Right at the west end of Singapore lays an almost hidden small coffee shop which houses a hidden gem that offers fantastic chicken rice which we were introduced. Here is YumzYumz food review of their steamed chicken rice.

Let's go straight to what's so special about A & I Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice's offerings. Their steam chicken comes with a unique sauce, and forgive us if we are so under exposed to the world of glorious food. It tasted with strong hua diao wine (花雕酒) and probably the usual of sesame oil and such. But the main draw was definitely the hua diao wine which emits so strongly, it gives the chicken so much extra dimension, it wins hands down against many other mundane chicken rice stalls that we have tried so far. Chicken was tender and as we always gets the breast meat, as long as it is tender, we can be sure the rest of the chicken would definitely be much better. Chicken skin was almighty silky and soft, marrying well with its delightful flesh.

Rice was fluffy, slightly on the mushy side but still nicely done. Chili sauce was watery but packs a strong punch.

End of it all, it all boils down to their unique hua diao wine sauce on its chicken. So damn awesome.

Each plate of chicken rice cost $3 and even though it is far on the west end of Singapore and within a small coffee shop, be prepared to queue for about 20mins during lunch time as it gets crazily pack.

Hunan Pork Belly at Xiang Xiang Hunan: Crunchy, Spicy, and Lip-Smacking Good

You know a dish is that good when you keep coming back for it. And that’s exactly what happened on our third visit to Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine 湘香湖南菜 —this time at AMK Hub. We already had high expectations from our past experiences, but once again, their Hunan pork belly blew us away. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) What Makes This Hunan Pork Belly Stand Out? First off, let’s talk about the star of the show: their Hunan stir fry pork , made with a heavenly combo of Iberico pork belly and lean pork. It’s a dish that really brings out the spirit of Hunan cooking—bold, fragrant, slightly spicy, and loaded with green pepper aromatics. The pork belly is wonderfully fatty and tender, with that unmistakable richness that Iberico pork is known for. The lean pork adds a nice balance so it doesn’t get overly unctuous. And then there's the rabbit ear fungus. Yes, rabbit ear fungus—also known as Mu Er or Yunnan black fungus . It...
