Nostalgic Curry Puffs @ AMK Curry Puff (Toa Payoh)

Used to be at Ang Mo Kio ( hence the name ), we just had to give these puffs a go, to find out if they were really indeed what they were used to be. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) The curry puff skin was thick, crispy and most importantly, doesn't felt oily. It's filling of curry potato cubs, a slice of egg and some tiny chunks of chicken were slightly spicy and sweet, complimenting well with its aromatic crust. It used to be 40cents ( from a long long time ago ), and now it is $1.60 a pop. Tasted still as great even with the increased price and change of stall name. Tip top curry puff used to taste this good. AMK Curry Puff (Toa Payoh) Opening Hours and Location 10am - 8:30pm Daily Address: 184 Toa Payoh Central, Singapore 310184 Super 28 Coffee Shop

Fried Fish Laksa @ Ma Bo Lor Mee

We tried out Ma Bo Lor Mee's fried fish laksa, even though their specialty is lor mee. Well, we will probably give their lor mee a try on another day. Here is what YumzYumz thinks of Ma Bo Lor Mee's fried fish laksa. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Feeling slightly hungrier than usual, we ordered a large bowl at $4 instead of the normal $3 portion. The amount of fried fish were generously given, well seasoned, flaky on the inside and crispy on the outside. Laksa gravy was really spicy! Thick and aromatic with coconut milk, and pairs extremely well with the thick beehoon noodles. At such pricing and generous amount, Ma Bo Lor Mee's fried fish laksa is definitely worth every cent and calories gained. Ma Bo Lor Mee Opening Hours and Location Monday 6:30am - 2pm Tuesday Closed Wednesday 6:30am - 2pm Thursday 6:30am - 2pm Friday 6:30am - 2pm Saturday 6:30am - 2pm Sunday 6:30am - 2pm Addr...

Michelin Star Bak Chor Mee @ Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle

We head down to Crawford Lane during lunch time for 1 Michelin Star bak chor mee ( minced meat noodles ). Caveat to reading on, this is YumzYumz opinion and ours alone. You can oppose or air your opinions in the comments section. ^^ View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) We arrived at block 466 at 12.05pm, and there were already 16 customers ahead of us, and it took 1hour 4minutes until it was our turn to get our food. Having appeared in 2016 Michelin Guide, it has to be good. For pricing, it goes from $6, $8 to $10 for their noodles, fried tee poh, seaweed soup, meatball soup. Frankly... $6 or even $10 for seaweed soup? No thanks. We went with the small seaweed soup that came with the noodles. We got a small $6 mee kia, and small $6 tee poh. Let's break it down from here. Tee Poh ( dried sole fish ) For every bowl of noodles, large chunks of tee poh were provided. At $6 for small bowl of tee poh, it just ain't worth it. N...

Hotcakes and Bacon @ Columbus Coffee Co

Huge brunch platter at Columbus Coffee Co consisting of 4 thick diner-style pancakes, 3 large slices of applewood back bacon, coupled with maple syrup, fresh cream and butter cubes on the sides. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Served on a huge plating, a generous sprinkle of icing sugar was all over the thick fluffy pancakes. The pancakes were already subtly sweet, and the icing sugar added another level of sweetness. On the side was a cup of sweet fresh cream to smear on the pancakes, adding another dimension of sweetness. Drizzling the thick maple syrup and the other different layers of sweetness will ensure you would hit your sugar limit for the day or visiting the doctor for diabetes at an earlier age. Do watch what you eat and how much sugar intake you are having. ^^ Lastly, the 3 large fatty juicy back bacon were a nice mix with the sweet treat. Salty and fatty bacon with sweet fluffy pancakes. Much satsifaction. ...

Breakfast Steak & Eggs @ Columbus Coffee Co

Next up for our 1st day of reopening of dine in restrictions, was a brunch item of breakfast steak & eggs from Columbus Coffee Co at Upper Thomson. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Topped with a bunch of arugula salad, which totally concealed the main item steak, providing the crunchy texture needed for the whole dish. Refreshing to the palate and eyes. Beneath the greens was a slab of nicely seared striploin. Pinkish on the inside and beautifully seared exterior. Stated on the menu was 200g of Australian grass fed striploin. Red pesto sauce was added to give the extra lift in flavour, which was exceptionally delightful. Pleasantly seasoned and wonderfully prepared. Finally on the sides were 2 organic sunny eggs with gooey yolks, and sautéed herbed potatoes. Their brunch items starts from 9am to 3pm. This brunch item of steak and eggs cost $25.10, and although on the expensive spectrum, it was indeed delicious and wo...

Burnt Brussel Sprouts @ Columbus Coffee Co

Dine in! whoo hoo! First day of reopen for dine-in, we head down to Columbus Coffee Co at Upper Thomson, and we got their burnt brussel sprouts as our sides and here is our food review of it. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Huge platter of nicely charred greens as sides instead of the usual fake truffel french fries was definitely refreshing. A generous portion for sides, sufficient for 3 to 4 pax to share. Slightly oily, but if you like deep fried potatoes, this is definitely a good alternative. There were chunky pieces which had the usual brussel sprouts bitterness, but the leafy exterior were crispy and well seasoned, almost like seaweed. Bitter sweet and salty, with nicely charred flavour. So tasty! On top of it were shavings of parmesan cheese, adding an additional layer of taste. So satisfying! At $12.80, these burnt brussel sprouts were the most expensive sides they had, but definitely worth it, and highly recom...

The YEN Burger @ Yen Yakiniku

Time for some atas food in Singapore during this suffocating Phase 2 Heightend Alert (P2HA). Famous for their heavenly charcoal grilled beef, we took away from Yen Yakiniku their YEN burger and let's break it down further. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Introduced by a friend, we gave Yen Yakiniku's YEN Burger a try and it simply blew our minds, in various ways. Firstly, Yen Yakiniku's Instagram featured a lovely and saliva inducing image of their burger invention. However, wrapping of the burger from neatly wrapped pack revealed an awfully squashed burger. We believe this won't be the case if we were served during dine-in. Simpyl frustrating.... Nevertheless, we gave it a go and on the first bite, we were left speechless. Tons of flavour hit our palates all at once. Nicely grilled fluffy sesame buns with wasabi mayo on the crusty caramalized side. Smokey and chewy bacon nicely grilled, and crunchy swiss br...
