Grilled Pork Chop @ Prince Coffee House 太子咖啡座

Snuggly nested along Beach Road, Prince Coffee House has been along for decades, with all their nostalgic photographs of past Hong Kong celebrities. YumzYumz tried out their grilled pork chop and here is our food review of it. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) 2 palmed sized slabs of grilled pork chops, ladled generously with thick creamy mushroom sauce. Surface of the pork chops were charred nicely and caramelized. Nice ratio of fats vs lean meat, providing a nice bite in every mouthful. However, the lean portions were too tough for our liking, but the taste was good though. Greens on the sides were a unique combination of long beans cabbage and carrots, as well as the usual thick french fries. At $14.50 a plate, it was suffice to say their pork chops served its purpose of filling the tummy, but probably not to the extent of mind blowing. Fish and Chips @ Prince Coffee House 太子咖啡座

Snuggly nested along Beach Road, Prince Coffee House has been along for decades, with all their nostalgic photographs of past Hong Kong celebrities. YumzYumz tried out their fish and chips and here is our food review of it. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Two medium sized fried fish patties served along with a handful of the usual french fries, and a bunch of greens. Fried fish was ample in thickness, flaky and savoury, but were somewhat overtly greasy. Greens on the sides were unique, different from the usual coleslaw, probably a version from the bygone era. In totality, nothing out of the norm, simply and straight forward fried fish. Service provided was absolutely warming, attentive and friendly. Ambience of the whole eatery was cosy and inviting. At $14.50, Prince Coffee House 太子咖啡座 fish and chips was simple and mundane but probably over priced with their offering. Prince Coffee House 太子咖啡座 Opening Hours and Location...

Chicken Pie @ Prince Coffee House 太子咖啡座

Snuggly nested along Beach Road, Prince Coffee House has been along for decades, with all their nostalgic photographs of past Hong Kong celebrities. YumzYumz tried out their chicken pie and here is our food review of it. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) We were intrigued by the strong buttery fragrance filling the whole eatery, where we noticed dozens of chicken pies were lining at the front of the entrance. We just gotta try it out. Their chicken pie was huge in size, almost like a standard brick length. Filling was ample to the brink of bursting out. Bite sized chicken chunks were sticking out in every corner, with mushy carrot bites and potently rich and accentuating fillings. Crust was buttery and fluffy, delicate and intricately delicious. On top of the quality of their chicken pie, their service were absolutely warming, attentive and friendly. Ambience of the whole eatery was cosy and inviting. At $8 a pop, Prince C...

Century Egg & Lean Meat Congee @ Yuan Ting Gourmet

What to eat at Kovan? How about some warm and healthy porridge at Yuan Ting Gourmet. Let's find out how their century egg and lean meat congee tasted with this food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Porridge was silky and smooth, yet held the shape of each grain nicely, with subtle seasoning. The fried shallots and chopped spring onions elevated the flavouring but still felt light and healthy. Fried fritters or youtiao chunks were crispy and oily, balancing out whatever healthy thoughts we had previously. Century eggs or 皮蛋 were nothing like what we saw on the display image (huge and plenty). Far and scarce, there were at most 2 slices of century eggs, but still added it's deep and unique taste to the congee. Lean meat slices were at most 4 slices, but tender and peppery, well marinated. We added a raw egg to the piping hot porridge for 50cents, which added another layer of smoothness and flavour. At $4.50 (wit...

arlic Ramen with all toppings @ Ramen Hitoyoshi

What to eat at Tampines Hub? YumzYumz tried out Ramen Hitoyoshi's Garlic Ramen with all toppings, and here is our food review of it. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) It came in a huge ramen bowl, with a giant seaweed on the side, topped with crunchy black fungus, 2 halved ajitamago or ramen eggs or seasoned eggs, with gooey egg yolks. A generous scoop of chopped spring onions in smacked in the middle to add flavour and texture. Next was their meaty melt in your mouth chashu, huge slab with the perfect thickness. It broke down even as we held it with our chopsticks and seasoned perfectly. Followed by their aromatic aburi belly chashu, well charred and caramelized, sweet and savoury, which we were begging for more. Finally, their special chashu, with a healthy amount of fats and lean meat, mixed into a mesh of sweet smokey pulled pork. Noodles were al dente, springy and held the soup really nicely. Soup was thick, almost gr...
