Yan Palace Restaurant: A Dim Sum Delight Worth Savoring 燕阁大酒楼

If you're looking for an amazing Cantonese dim sum experience in Singapore, Yan Palace is the place to go. Located on the 1st floor of Hong Lim Complex, Yan Palace is a popular restaurant known for its extensive menu and amazing dishes. In this dim sum food review, we explore some of their best menu items and share our thoughts on each dish.

We ordered a variety of items, and each dish was absolutely delicious. Here are some of our top picks:

Steamed Chicken Claws in Spicy Sauce

We started with the steamed chicken claws in spicy sauce, also known as chicken feet. They had a glorious sheen, gooey and succulent skin, and a spicy and addictive flavor. They were priced at $4.80 per order.

Steamed Prawn Dumplings

Next up were the steamed prawn dumplings, or har kow. They had razor-thin skin wrapped around bouncy and meaty prawns. They were simply irresistible at $5.80 per order.

Steamed Pork Dumplings

The steamed pork dumplings, or siew mai, were plump, savory, and delectable, slightly greasy but definitely amazing at $5.40 per order.

Mini Egg Tarts

The mini egg tarts may have been small, but each one packed a sweet punch, priced at $4.80.

Shanghai Steamed Pork Dumplings

The Shanghai steamed pork dumplings, or xiao long bao, were bursting with flavor and juice, making them an awesome choice at $5.40 per order.

Steamed BBQ Pork Buns

The steamed BBQ pork buns, or char siew baos, had a fluffy and moist exterior and silky, savory char siew fillings, priced at $5.40 per order.

Pork Porridge with Century Eggs

If you fancy some porridge to go along with your dim sum, we recommend the pork porridge with century eggs, which was smooth, silky, and had a deep, intense flavor at $5.40 per order.

Steamed Cheong Fun BBQ Pork

The steamed cheong fun BBQ pork, or chee cheong fun with char siew, were silky and had lots of filling, with a sweet, savory sauce drizzled all over, priced at $5.80 per order.

Deep-Fried Prawn Dumplings and Banana Rolls

The deep-fried prawn dumplings at $5.80 and deep-fried banana and prawn rolls at $5.80 were crunchy and definitely a must-try alongside the usual steamed dim sum items.

Fried Carrot Cake in XO Sauce and Fried Prawn Paste Chicken Wings

Finally, the fried carrot cake in XO sauce and fried prawn paste chicken wings were a delight to have, priced at $6 per order and only available on Sundays and public holidays.

Swift Service and Friendly Staff

The service at Yan Palace was swift even when the restaurant was packed to the brim, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Conclusion

It's no surprise that Yan Palace is so well-known for its delicious Cantonese dim sum, and it's always crowded. We enjoyed our brunch at Yan Palace and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing dim sum experience.

Hunan Pork Belly at Xiang Xiang Hunan: Crunchy, Spicy, and Lip-Smacking Good

You know a dish is that good when you keep coming back for it. And that’s exactly what happened on our third visit to Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine 湘香湖南菜 —this time at AMK Hub. We already had high expectations from our past experiences, but once again, their Hunan pork belly blew us away. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) What Makes This Hunan Pork Belly Stand Out? First off, let’s talk about the star of the show: their Hunan stir fry pork , made with a heavenly combo of Iberico pork belly and lean pork. It’s a dish that really brings out the spirit of Hunan cooking—bold, fragrant, slightly spicy, and loaded with green pepper aromatics. The pork belly is wonderfully fatty and tender, with that unmistakable richness that Iberico pork is known for. The lean pork adds a nice balance so it doesn’t get overly unctuous. And then there's the rabbit ear fungus. Yes, rabbit ear fungus—also known as Mu Er or Yunnan black fungus . It...
