Sukiya Hotpot @ Plaza Singapura

Steamboat or hotpot at Suki-ya, definitely cheaper than Haidilao, but service standard was definitely way far apart. Soup base was good and tasty. With the free flow of meat, we ain't really picky on their service, but could be better. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Sukiya offers a few types of broth to suit your taste buds. We had Sukiyaki soup base, a Japanese favourite, combination of soy sauce, sugar & mirin. Margaret Drive Fishball Noodle: A Must-Try Noodle Stall in Bendemeer

Margaret Drive Fishball Noodles at Bendemeer Market & Food Centre is a popular spot for early risers, as they open their stall as early as 5:15 am. It's no surprise that the majority of the patrons are the elderly folks in the estate. When we arrived, we noticed that most of the queue consisted of senior citizens patiently waiting to get their hands on a bowl of delicious fishball noodles. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) The noodles were cooked to perfection, and the stall's unique blend of sauces and secret chili sauce gave the dish its signature taste. The fishballs were bouncy and chewy, without being overly salty. However, what sets this dish apart is the special chili sauce, which has a slight touch of vinegar that adds a hint of sourness to the spicy dish, elevating the overall taste. While it may not be the best fishball noodles we've ever had, it certainly isn't the worst either. The dish has its ...

Deep flavoured, 30mins long queue, full belly, satisfied. That is what you get at De Ji Cooked Food's sheng mian soup noodles. At $3.50 for a small bowl, it really ain't that small. It was packed to the brim, full of ingredients and piping hot full flavoured soup. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) It had marinated pork slices, marinated yummy yummy minced pork, fish cakes, fish balls, pork liver. Listing them out now makes us thought of the yumminess all these goodies tasted. It was difficult not to notice how slow the queue was moving though. Were customers ordering in bulk? Were the stall people moving slowly? None of these reasons. It was actually the process of creating the orders. Each bowl was made individually. The man cooking was placing broth after broth into a hot over a blazing hot stove, adding each ingredients individually into the pot for each order. Each bowl took about approximately 2 ~...

For $4, you get 2 prawns, a few slices of squid, a generous portion of well fried noodles, and their unique blend of lime sambal on the sides. A quick scan through the web suggest that some do not fancy it, but each to one's opinion and taste buds. This is a "wet" hokkien mee version, and really really decent for the price of it. The prawns are of acceptable sizes. You can't be expecting jumbo size for the $4. Oh, and if you like a taste of it, do visit earlier as the queue is usually very long.
