Chicken Cutlet @ JWS Grille Factory

Western food stall located within a coffee shop, JWS Grille Factory offers a large array of choices in their menu. YumzYumz tried out their outlet at Ang Mo Kio block 339, and here is our food review of their chicken cutlet. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Thankfully, their chicken cutlet was way better compared to their fish and chips . The crust was crunchy and tasty, not overly oily. The inside was slightly dry, but still flavourful and combined with the crust, every bite was a delight. The same can't be said of the sides, for they were same with what we had for their fish and chips. The french fries were dreadful, cold and limp, and for the "cheesy" ( more like starch and some cheese powder... ) broccoli and corn, they too were cold and not worth a mention. At $7.90 for a huge chunky crunchy chicken cutlet, it was quite tasty and satisfying. If not for their unworthy sides, and nonchalant customer service,...

Fish and Chips @ JWS Grille Factory

Western food stall located within a coffee shop, JWS Grille Factory offers a large array of choices in their menu. YumzYumz tried out their outlet at Ang Mo Kio block 339, and here is our food review of their fish and chips. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) We shall not beat around the bush, and go straight to the point : it was terrible. The fish was equivalent to fish fillets that you get from economic beehoon stalls, just that it was slightly larger, oiler, mushier. We got quite a shock that such depressing piece of squishy abomination could be passed off as fish and chips. The sides consisting of french fries and onion rings were mundane and reheated from factory sources and worst of all, they were served cold. Priced at $7.90, we believe this has got to be one of the worst fish and chips we had so far. For the quality of the fish, it has got to be a sin for them to even dare serve at such appalling q...

Sesame Oil Chicken @ Soon Huat Cooked Food

Located within Clementi 448 Market & Food Centre, this particular stall which doesn't have a distinctive stall name, offers aromatic and thick sesame oil chicken. YumzYumz gave it a try and this is our food review of it. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) The gravy was generously given, extremely rich and most suitable to enjoy with a bowl of steaming rice. Thick and rich with black vinegar and sesame oil, and with the added chinese celery to heighten its taste. The chicken pieces were extremely tender and meaty, dripping with all the goodness soaked from the luscious deep gravy. We added a braised egg but sadly, it was comparable to rock hard texture and not recommended. Priced at $4.50 a serving, their sesame oil chicken was savoury and delicious, but will do good if there were slightly more meat to it. At $0.70 an egg, we recommend not considering adding their egg. Wanton Mee & Fried Dumplings @ Boon Kee Wanton Mee

Within the bustling Clementi 448 Market & Food Centre was a long queue towards Boon Kee Wanton Mee. It was also where YumzYumz was being introduced to. This is our food review of Boon Kee's Wanton Mee. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) The noodles that we got at Boon Kee were the usual mee kia, but the sauce was anything but common. Instead of the usual heavy handed oyster sauce, the sauce mix at Boon Kee had a unique twist, which alleviated the overall taste of the sauce mix with the noodles. They must have a secret ingredient that mixed incredibly well with the usual suspects. Nevertheless, it was out of the norm, savoury and tasty. We got three plump wantons that were decent and had were slightly pepperish. Along came a fried wanton, which was more of a garnish than anything, as nothing worthy can be spoken of it. It is finally the char siew's turn and quite frankly, the char siew slices were nothing short of t...

Prawn Noodles @ Huat Heng Fried Prawn Mee

Located within Shunfu Mart, Huat Heng Fried Prawn Mee has a wicked pot of broth going on and this is YumzYumz food review of their prawn noodles. Read on to find out how we thought of it. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) They have the soup or dry version, and we got the dry version so as to taste how their dry version was as well as taste their soup. First off, they have this ton of fried shallots dumped at the top, which give so much of added flavour and texture to every bite. Noodles were blanched decently but portion was slightly underwhelming. The sauce mix was intense with a staple of their intense prawn broth as the base mix. There were 4 halved prawns which tasted pretty crunchy and somewhat fresh. The two pork slices were a let down as they were quite tough. The star element was the prawn broth, intense and extremely deep full bodied flavour. The broth was so thick and rich, we could find the chiili padi slice th...

Lala Slice Fish White Beehoon @ Woon Woon Pek Beehoon

Brightly lighted in th emiddle of Changi Hawker Centre, YumzYumz tried Woon Woon's white beehoon and this is what we have reviewed about their lala slice fish white beehoon. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) All of their menu items were quite pricey and the cheapest was $5, and that was what we got. The beehoon wasn't broken into small pieces, instead was firm and soaked with the goodness of the broth. The broth was amazingly tasty, emitting a brilliance of wok hey the moment it hits the tip of our tongue. We got about 5 chunky tender tasty fish slices mixed among about 8 pieces of juicy clams. Their fried pork lard were fluffy and crispy, providing the needed crunchy texture along with the veggies for this white beehoon dish. Priced at $5, Woon Woon's Lala Slice Fish White Beehoon was really tasty, solely because of the broth they have concocted that brought the best out of the white beehoon and seafood. Woon Woo...

Wanton Noodles @ Thiam Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice Noodles

Although Thiam Kee at Changi Village Hawker Centre specializes in chicken rice as its name states, YumzYumz tried their wanton noodles and here is our food review on it. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Firstly, their noodles are chewy, as what any wanton noodles with the usual mee kia will taste like. The sauce mix was heavy in oyster sauce and pork fat. In a way, we could say it is the "traditional" way, or what everyone are used to in Singapore, or we could say it was done in the right way. Next up would be their char siew slices, which were fairly chunky but tender and with proportionately right amount of fats and meat. We got three pieces of plump wantons that were marinated really nicely and with subtle pepperish taste. At $3 a plate, the amount of ingredients and portion was generous, affordable for wanton noodles, and it was gobbled down swiftly. Thiam Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice Noodles Location Address: 01...

Signature Lor Mee @ Ah Choon Traditional Lor Mee Prawn Noodle Laksa

Looking for what to eat at Woodlands? Head to Kampung Admiralty for Ah Choon's lor mee. YumzYumz had their signature lor mee, and this is what our food review of their famous traditional lor mee. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Ah Choon's signature lor mee consist of a ton of ingredients packed into a bowl of gooey fragrant gravy, drowning the well blanched noodles. There was this large chunk of fried fish which was flaky on the inside and slight crisp on the exterior. Soaked in the aromatic gravy, the deep fried fish and chunky bits of fried batter adds depth of texture to every bite. Next was the halved prawns, deveined and tasted fresh, and the halved braised eggs were soft and savoury. We got a chunky chewy ngoh hiang which was definitely a delightful addition. And finally, a generous amount of braised fatty pork strips. To end it all off, we added a spoonful of minced garlic and a splash of black vinegar to giv...

Pork Ribs Noodle @ Happy Garden AMK

What to eat at Ang Mo Kio Central? Consider having Happy Garden's Pork Ribs noodles at Ang Mo Kio Central Hawker Centre. Here is our food review for this tenderlicious pork ribs noodles. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Similar to their prawn noodles, the noodles were cooked to a nice firmness, covered with a nice sauce mix. A generous amount of fluffy crunchy fried pork lard was given and added to the needed texture to the whole dish. The pork ribs flesh literally fell of the bones, and the bones were almost disintegrated into the rich and dense broth. The broth was extremely rich with herbal flavours and the coriander ( aka chow chow veggie s) lifted the broth's taste. At $4 a bowl, this pork ribs noodles is a hearty and yummilious bowl of goodness, suitable for any meal of the day.
