Tenderlicious Chicken Rice @ Ming Ji Chicken Rice

Located within Bishan Kim San Leng coffee shop, Ming Ji Chicken Rice ( or Ming Kee Chicken Rice ^^ ) has been around for a long time and really famous around Singapore for their chilled chicken rice. Here is YumzYumz food review of Ming Ji Chicken Rice. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) We got there around 11am on a weekend, and the queue was already 20 pax in line. It took around 15 quick minutes and it was our turn. The speed at which they cleared the queue was amazing. The customers before us were ordering in the 8 plates, 10 packets pattern, but the lightning movements of Ming Ji were obviously up to the task of satisfying everyone. On top of that, they were so polite and calm when conversing with everyone. Really awesome. Nicely plated chicken and drizzled with their light fragrant sauce, each piece of steamed chicken was chilled firm chunky tender and moist. We always order the breast meat portion, as if the tough b...

Minced Meat Noodles with Prawns @ Teochew Mee Pok And Fish Ball Noodles

Located right at the front of Cheng San Hawker Centre and with only chinese characters for its stall name, YumzYumz tried Teochew Mee Pok And Fish Ball Noodles's minced meat noodles with prawns and here is our food review of it. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Topped with tons of ingredients, the noodles were hardly visible. The way it was plated, it was immensely inviting. Some spring onions as garnish, spoonful of tender peppery minced meat was in every mouthful of deliciously blanched noodles. Bits of ti poh ( dried sole fish ) were in the well mixed standard noodle sauce, brining out the very best taste. There were thick pieces of tenderlicious pork liver, pork slices, and a mundane commercially made meatball. Lastly among the sea of ingredients were 2 crunchy prawns, although they looked slightly pale, but still a delightful addition to an already satisfying bowl of noodle goodness. At $4, it was definitely worth e...

Fried Chicken Nasi Briyani @ 907 Indian Muslim Food

Located in the heartlands and near west end of Singapore, YumzYumz tried out their fried chicken nasi briyani and this is our food review of how it went. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Presented with a huge circular plate, the amount of basmati rice was enormous, enough for 2 persons to share. Placed at the top was a fried chicken thigh that was reheated in a microwave. Although it is the usual practice for such stalls, it still irks us as we won't know how long ago was the chicken made. Nevertheless, it was crispy on the outside, and dry on the inside. The rice was not the best we had, and needed much more taste, as it was after all nasi briyani. Curry gravy was not warm, and non spicy. On the sides were some ah char and a piece of papadum crisp. At $5.50 a plate, the quantity of nasi briyani was huge and definitely worth it, but sadly, lacks a depth of quality. 907 Indian Muslim Food Location Address: 907 Jurong West...

Tandoor Chicken Tikka @ Pepper Castle – Holland Village

Smacked right at the junction of Holland Village, YumzYumz visited this kopi thiam with Pepper Castle gave them a try. This is our food review of their Tandoor Chicken Tikka. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) First off, a tandoor is a cylindrical clay or metal oven used in cooking and baking. So what is tikka? Tikka is a dish consisting of pieces of meat and made by marinating the pieces in spices and yogurt and cooking them in a tandoor. So, what we got were simply chicken cooked in a cylindrical cooking device, but out came a plate of AMAZINGLY smokey and out of this world TENDER marinated chicken. They were so soft, they almost melted in our mouths. The charred bits and slightly crisp skin gave the extra texture need as the meat was SO DAMN SOFT, totally infused with its awesome spice. And the minty sauce on the side and sliced onions perks up its flavour many folds. At $5.50 for a quarter chicken, it was anytime bette...

Garlic Naan & Palak Paneer @ Pepper Castle - Holland Village

Smacked right at the junction of Holland Village, YumzYumz visited this kopi thiam with Pepper Castle gave them a try. This is our food review of their Garlic Naan and Palak Paneer. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) First up is their garlic naan. It took about 15 minutes before we got our fix as their take-aways crowd had long waiting list. Which means, their food gotta be up to scratch for them to be in demand. True enough, their oven baked flat bread, garlic naan was delightfully satisfying, and really filling too. They were fluffy and infused with butter and garlic spread at the top, with chopped parsley giving it the added flavour. Next up was their palak paneer. For those who do not know, palak is a thick paste made from puréed spinach, and paneer is a type of cottage cheese. It was extremely thick and generous in quantity. There were about 10 cubes of palak, which has the similar texture to really dense tofu. Combin...

It had to be good and so we had to give it a try. This is YumzYumz food review of Green Chilli Chicken Rice. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Tended by a really friendly old uncle who took our orders with politeness and swiftness any hawker should learn from. When asked if they are open everyday, he responded with "Yes, everyday without fail." "Uncle, we first time try your stall. Your green chilli chicken rice got so nice anot, so good business!" Curry Rice @ Beach Road Scissor-Cut Curry Rice (Upper Thomson)

Anyone who loves starchy gooey curry rice, will definitely know of scissor-cut curry rice. With their original outlet at Jalan Besar, they have opened an outlet at Upper Thomson, and YumzYumz gave them a visit and here is our curry rice food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) With their usual thick and fragrant curry, mixed with the braised gravy, it was sufficient on its own as a meal with plain rice. Gooey, sticky, thick, amazingly satisfying. On top of it, we added 3 ingredients of their famous pork chop slices, a fried egg, and an out of this world outrageously tasty ngor hiang. The pork chops were tender, and the egg was gooey. Their ngor hiang had a soft chewy skin, or rather multi layers of fu pi ( beancurd skin ), wrapped around sweet pork and lots of crunchy tender turnips. It was a delightful addition to an appetizing plate of goodness. As the shop was rather small and considering the COVI...

Fishball Noodles @ Yong Peng Xi Dao Fishball AMK Hub Malaysia Boleh

One of the rustic looking stalls in Malaysia Boleh's chain of food court, YumzYumz visited the ever crowed AMK Hub outlet and tried out the Fishball Noodles stall, and here is our food review of it. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) If Yong Peng Xi Dao's fishball noodles are a representation or lesser version of how Malaysia foods are, then it is rightly justified that Malaysia's food are really much tastier than Singapore's ( in general ). The noodles were totally engulfed in the well concocted black sauce mix, subtly sourness with the right amount of saltiness and sweetness. Every bite of the noodles brings out a burst of happiness flavour. In a separate bowl contained 3 huge fishballs and some fish cake slices. We joked to the stall owner that the fishballs were really big! She replied gleefully and said "I guarantee that after you eat these fishballs, you will come make again." ...

Here is YumzYumz's food review of their array of delectable meat. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) To save some effort on our part, we got all 5 types of meat at one go for 2 pax, which cost a whopping $26.40. Crispy & Juicy Roasted Chicken First off, it was the roasted chicken. The skin was crispy and right amount of oiliness, wrapping around tasty moist juicy tenderlicious white meat. Tenderlicious Char Siew This is the preeminent example of how char siew should be made. Slightly charred on the outside, with fatty and tender flesh. The amount of fats weren't overwhleming, mixing well with the savoury juicy flesh. Sweetness and saltiness of the marinate penetrated nicely into the most inner flesh, creating an explosion of happiness in the mouth. Cris...
