Indulge in Juicy and Flavorful Ribeye Steak at iSTEAKS

What to eat at iSTEAKS? Definitely one of their many beef steaks from the menu. We got their New Zealand Ribeye 250grams - Steakhouse Char (Silver Fern), and here is our food review of their ribeye steak. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) We ordered iSTEAKS' ribeye at medium rare as usual. It came swiftly after around 15minutes. Crust was gorgeously seared and beautifully caramelized. Size or portion was larger than palm sized and thick in height. Interior was rosey pink, succulent and memorably intricate. Juice from its flesh oozes out as we sliced through. Amply seasoned while retaining its beefy goodness. Superbly done with its visual beauty and appetite stimulating fragrance. We got their cream spinach and onion rings on the sides, and frankly were sides that were nice but definitely not as memorable as its main. At $27, this ribeye steak from iSTEAKS was fairly pricey, but in terms of quality and quantity, it definite...

Curry Chicken Kolo Mee @ Traditional Sarawak Kolo Mee

Looking for chicken curry with kolo mee? How about at Traditional Sarawak Kolo Mee's version which stated on their menu is a must try? Let's take a look at this food review of their curry chicken kolo mee. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Their curry and noodles were separated if you were wondering like us if the noodles would be submerged within the curry. Curry was thick and luscious, subtly sweet and slightly spicy. Extremely smooth and no grainy powdery texture of curry powder, and not much coconut milk taste. Really well done we must say. Chicken were thoroughly cooked through, about 3 huge chunks, and a couple of squashy potato wedges. Their noodles were plain and simple, similar to their other noodle items like their Premium Kolo Mee , springy and full of flavour from pork lard and fried shallots. Adding their he bi hiam was a treat, which was sweet, crunchy and biteful. Delicious! It comes in a set of $7.50, w...

Fresh Cockles Fried Kway Teow @ Potong Pasir King Specialist Carrot Cake

Simple yet intricately tasty, Potong Pasir King Specialist Carrot Cake at Ang Mo Kio was certainly one of the better char kway teow we had, and here is our char kway teow food review of it. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Sharing a single corner stall with 老吴記 Mutton Soup, Potong Pasir King Specialist Carrot Cake's char kway teow had a deep, charring and aromatic scent. It is a wonder why their stall name is carrot cake alone, as their char kway teow was amazing! Not overtly greasy, it was the drier version compared to other which are usually gooey and clumpy. Pork lard was in abundance, enveloping the nicely charred tiny bits in every mouthful. Egg that was stir fried fabulously with garlic and tossed on hot pan along with the kway teow and noodles, with subtle spicy chili sauce. Our taste buds were begging for more as we savoured every bit of it. Cockles were tiny but generously given, crunchy and umami filled. Chinese...

Wanton Mee @ 777 HK Traditional Roasted Delights

Where to eat wanton mee in amk? Any good wanton noodles around? We tried out 777 HK Traditional Roasted Delights at amk block 532 and here is our food review of it. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) For a roasted meat stall, their char siew were particularly underwhelming, dry but subtly sweet. Savouriness came in the form of their unique viscous gravy drizzled onto the char siew. Noodles were mundane, with wet greasy sauce base, leaning more towards the sweeter spectrum. 3 wantons were given, and were plump and mouthful, savoury and flavourful. At $4 for wanton noodles with spot on wantons but lacklustre char siew, it was filling but lacking in satisfaction. 777 HK Traditional Roasted Delights Opening Hours and Location 8.15am - 7pm Daily Address: 532 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10, 01-2473, Singapore 560532

Roasted Duck Noodles @ 777 HK Traditional Roasted Delights

What to eat in Ang Mo Kio? Looking for roasted duck noodles? We take a look at this stall at amk block 532 duck noodles and here is our food review of it. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Simple plating, with a bundle of mundane nicely blanched noodles in a shallow pool of greasy sauce, made up of their special gravy and pork lard, deep and savoury, subtly sweet. Veggies were a chopped up mess on the side, offering the crunchy texture on an overall view. Next was their main item, their roasted duck. Fat to lean meat ratio was superb, with the fat juice complementing the tender lean meat. Skin was greasy, slightly crisp, with layers of fats underneath. The taste of the flesh and skin were infused deeply with their herbal mix, probably predominantly of dang gui as stated on their menu. Quantity of meat was fabulous and generous, nicely proportionate to the noodles. The auntie taking orders and yelping orders to the staff in...

Fried Fish Soup @ Mei Ren Yu 美人鱼

Located within the bowels of Woodlands industrial area, Mei Ren Yu had an inconspicuous stall front, but with a snakey queue on a weekday lunch time. It even had a longer queue than the usual favourites of chicken rice or economical rice. Let's take a look at the main item they had on their menu that was attracting the crowd, fried fish soup. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) There was a choice of ban mian, U mian, or thick vermicelli noodles, and we went along with the latter which is usually the popular choice. Soup was acceptably thick and aromatic, with subtle hints of ban mian or U mian being cooked in the same pot, the floury taste. Flavour was somewhat mixed, but ample and suffice to say it was tasty and soul warming. The main kicks came in the form of meaty, savoury fried fish chunks. They were somewhat much more savoury, not to the point of salty, but rather, sweet and deep savouriness. Each...

Stinky Tofu @ Mini Star (HK) Fermented Beancurd

What to eat at Geylang? Perhaps some stinky smelly fermented tofu at Mini Star HK Fermented Beancurd. Let's explore and review how stinky their tofu was. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Our order was freshly deep fried to a golden brown crisp, filling the air within this narrow and long joint with stinky smelly odour. It could easily be related to the stench you get when a garbage truck passes by. As our order was placed in front of us, the stench was so overpowering that it smelt rotting and pungent. However, once in our mouths, it tasted subtly sweet, kinda sourish and savoury. Inside was silky smooth yet the outside was crunchy and crispy. Deeping into their aesthetically pleasing sauce was delightful and taste elevating. Half of it was sweet while the other was spicy, while a pinch of pickled veggies on the side was nice too. At $4 for 2 slabs of stinky tofu at Mini Star (HK) Fermented Beancurd was enjoyable and grea...

View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) To start off, we had to choose the type of soup base : Authentic 红烧 Pickled vegetable 酸菜 Spicy 香辣 Next was our choice of noodles : Thick vermicelli Ramen or la mian Rice noodle We got their authentic soup with ramen noodles. Their authentic or 红烧 soup base was fabulously deep and rich with flavour, not overtly greasy, smooth on the palate. Pairing nicely with the soul warming soup was their perfectly blanched ramen noodles. Garnished at the top were some chopped spring onions for taste elevation, and a scoop of pickled vegetables for the added texture and acidity. Finally, the defining ingredient of braised wagyu beef. There were approximately 4 medium sized chunky beef, with delicate texture that almost melte...
