Sheng Cheng Fishball Noodles @ Bukit Timah Market & Food Centre

Which fishball noodle stall to order from at Bukit Timah? YumzYumz head to Sheng Cheng Fishball Noodles for this food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) This stall is one of the more popular stall in the hawker centre, so be prepared to be in queue for around 15minutes. And they usually sell out before lunch. Fishballs were springy and savoury with acceptable size. Garnish on top made it appealing and provided the needed crunch in every bite. 2 slices of fishcakes on top which were nothing out of the norm. Noodle sauce mix was greasy and flavourful, coating every strain of noodle well. Noodles were springy and the usual type found anywhere. Bits and pieces of minced pork were everywhere, even in the soup, which was pleasantly nice. Priced at $3, $4, $5. We got the $3 order, and quantity was ample if you aren't really hungry. Quality was nice and probably suitable to have on a daily basis. But the auntie was somewhat...

Teck Hin Fishball Noodle @ Bukit Timah Market & Food Centre

What to eat at Bukit Timah hawker centre? How about fishball noodles and which stall to choose from? We tried out Teck Hin fishball noodles in this food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Spotting a bare stall with minimal hardware and storage, it gave us a sense of traditionally made food. Noodles were truly minimalistic, simple sauce mix, laden with chunky fish cakes and a single fish dumpling or "her giao". Sauce mix was slightly sourish from black vinegar, and chili was thick and spicy. Nothing over the top, just simple teochew style noodles. 3 fishballs were given on a separate bowl of soup. Size of fishballs were small, but springy and authentically tasty. The auntie spots a fiery front, so you do have to bear with it if you would want to give their fishball noodles a try. Pricing for a small order at $4 and $5 for large fishball noodles. We got the small order at $4, and the portion was certainly small,...

Monster Fish Burger with Fries @ Monster Curry

Instead of their usual mainstay curry and rice, we had Monster Curry's monster fish burger for this food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) In no way would we had anticipated the size of Monster Curry's fish burger. Not the size of the burger per se, but rather the huge slab of fish fillet smacked in the middle of a normal sized bun. It was literally a whole fried fish fillet that you get from fish and chips, in the middle of a burger. Crispy, greasy, and flaky on the inside. Taste wasn't out of the norm, but satisfying. There was thousand island and tartar sauces on it, capped with a fluffy bun nicely buttered and caramelized on the inside. On the side were fries with a saucer of curry mayo, which was surprisingly pleasant and tasty. At $11.80 for a big fried fish burger at Monster Curry, it was filling and tasty, and nice alternative besides their curry and rice. Monster Curry Opening Hours and Location 11...

Curry Chicken Noodles @ Ji Ji Noodle House

Where to eat curry chicken noodles? With a few options at Hong Lim, we tried out Ji Ji Noodle House's curry chicken noodles for this food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Curry was thick and almost creamy, not too runny, with light spiciness and savoury, not the same as the sweet variant of Ah Heng Curry Chicken. Ji Ji noodle house's curry is the type of curry you need to have with toasted bread for the ultimate dipping. But since they are a Noodle House and there isn't any bread, we had to settle for Ji Ji's springy chewy awesomlicious noodles. Curry held on well on the noodles for the slurping satisfaction. Chicken chunks were chopped up chicken drumstick, with lots of tenderlicious flesh and gooey skin/fats. The other stuff included were taupok soaked through with the thick spicy curry, and of course wedges of soft yummy potatoes. If you need extra spiciness, add in their chili sauce on the side for...

Beef Rendang Nasi Padang @ Shima's Kitchen

We wanted to try out Shima's Kitchen's nasi lemak, but it was already sold out even at 11am on a weekday! So we settled for their nasi padang with beef rendang and here is our food review for it. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Beef rendang at Shima's Kitchen was amazingly tender while retaining the needed texture in each bite. Thick and aromatic rendang, greasy and flavourful, bursting with spices and spiciness. Curry veggies were soft and subtly spicy, with hints of sweetness. And lastly, we will definitely get a begedil whenever we visit any nasi padang stall. The begedil here was nice and soft, fried to a nice crisp with aromatic fillings. Delicious! Every aspect gels and harmonizes with the fluffy rice for a filling and satisfying lunch. ^^ At $3.50 for beef rendang nasi padang, it was definitely cheap and yummilicious, along with the friendly attitude from the aunties at the stall. Recommended! Shima's ...

Curry Chicken Noodles @ Ah Heng Curry Chicken Bee Hoon Mee

There are quite a number of stalls offering curry chicken noodles at Hong Lim Market and Food Centre. But which curry chicken noodles to get? We tried out the stall on the second level, Ah Heng Curry Chicken Bee Hoon Mee in this food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Waiting time for weekday lunch crowd was about 20minutes, with about 10 pax ahead of us. Attitude was fairly warm and welcoming. The defining ingredient, curry, was subtly spicy, and heavy handed on the sweetness level. Or rather, their curry is leaning towards sweet curry, defining themselves with a unique product. Chicken chunks were all breast meat, weren't tough and dry, but rather juicy and tender. Noodles, bean sprouts and chicken chunks were drenched in curry gravy over the main huge pot over and over to get temperature up, followed by the pieces of fish cakes and tau pok. As mentioned, curry gravy was unique, sweet and tasty, with the rest of t...

Satay Bee Hoon @ Soon Huat Teochew Satay Beehoon

Where to get satay bee hoon? What to eat at East Coast Lagoon Food Village? In this satay beehoon food review, we head down to try out Soon Huat Teochew Satay Beehoon. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) 顺发 Shun Fa Chao Zhou Satay Mi Fen Cuttlefish Kang Kong, located in the maze of stalls within East Coast Lagoon Food Village, had a rustic shop front. With a snakey queue, we waited patiently for our turn to order. The lady who was cooking and taking orders seemed to be extremely busy, but at the same time, showed courteous and friendly attitude. We got our order within 5minutes. Secret to a yummy satay beehoon is definitely their gravy. And their gravy was exceptionally yummilicious! Thick and consistent, with subtly grainy texture of all the goodness they throw into this awesome concoction. It had a slight whiff of smokey fragrance which was pleasant and delightfully satisfying. The amount of ingredients was gre...

Hokkien Noodles @ Geylang 29 Charcoal Fried Hokkien Mee

Where to find nice hokkien mee in the east? How about at East Coast Park? We tried out Geylang 29 Charcoal Fried Hokkien Mee's hokkien mee with this food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Without a buzzer service, it was a challenge for us to order from multiple stalls, while wheezing back to them to check if our orders were ready. Do take note. But the guy taking orders was really friendly and helpful. ^^ Dry version of hokkien noodles, it was aromatic and irresistibly yummilicious! Not exactly charred, but the aroma was absolutely mesmerizing. We wonder how thick and potent the broth they used was, but we can imagine it to be awesome! Noodles were gooey and clumpy, great for mouthfuls. Fried pork lard drove home the mind blowing fragrance and aftertaste. Full of garlicy and pork lard presence. There were 2 crunchy and fresh shelled prawns were added, along with slivers of squid for the needed texture. Adding a sq...
