Unleash Your Inner Cowboy at Wow Wow West with Their Authentic Chicken Chop

Craving for a good chicken chop or thinking of where to get one of the best chicken chop in Singapore? Head down to ABC Brickworks like us for Wow Wow West's chicken chop for this food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Its skin was marvelously grilled to a perfect caramelized state, crispy and oozing with yummilicious juice. Dozed on it was a good pour of their brown sauce, elevating the flavour of the chicken skin. Its flesh was thick and juicy, tender and mouthful. Unlike some other stalls where the chicken is pulverized to a thin sheet, Wow Wow West's chicken chop offers chunky and succulent chicken chop, with richly infused flavours deep into its flesh. The friendly boss even walks around the stall area to top up the brown sauce for anyone who wants more. Thats what service is all about. ^^ The sides were the usual chunky fries, baked beans and appetizing coleslaw. Its portion was huge, larger than palm siz...

Big Bao Bao Zai Review: A Decent Spot for Steamed Buns?

Besides the usual noodles or western food at ABC Brickworks hawker centre, we tried out a recommended stall of Bao Zai for their dim sum, especially their handmade big bao for this food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Handmade bao is indeed different. Its skin was absolutely fluffy with layers folded in. Its interior filling was juicy but not overtly greasy, with chewy marinated pork. Its meat filling had a harmonious combination of fat and lean meat, paired with a tiny wedge of hard boiled egg. Its juice married nicely with the fluffy skin for the soggy texture. However for a big bao, its size was underwhelmingly small, and comes at $1.60 per piece. Quality was great but quantity was begging for much more for Bao Zai's big bao. Bao Zai Opening Hours Monday 11am - 7pm Tuesday 11am - 7pm Wednesday Closed Thursday Closed Friday 11am - 7pm Saturday 11am - 7pm Sunday 11am - 7pm  Address: 6 Bukit Merah Lane 1, #0...

Indulge in the Luxurious Truffle Cream Pasta at Cafe Monochrome

Looking at pictures of Cafe Monochrome certainly warrants a visit, especially with all their Instagram worthy images. But how is Cafe Monochrome's food? We paid a visit for this food review on their truffle cream pasta. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Pasta was soft and nice as what any pasta should taste like, nothing special or intriguing. Ingredients added were more than generous, with lots of shimeji mushrooms, swiss brown mushrooms, and white button mushrooms added. The amount of mushrooms were almost equivalent to the amount of spaghetti. Its truffle cream sauce was absolutely rich and infused with all the mushroomy goodness, elevated with a good dose of parmesan cheese, and topped with fresh arugula. Their service was great, greeted and assisted with friendly smiles and swiftly served. Priced at $21 a plate, Cafe Monochrome's truffle cream pasta was generous in their quantity with lovely quality. Besides their...

Delicious Char Siew Wanton Mee at Chef Kang Noodle House

Located in the heartlands of Toa Payoh at Jackson Square, Chef Kang's Noodle House has won a Michelin award in 2019 for their wanton noodles, making it a must-visit spot for wanton mee enthusiasts. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Their famous char siew steals the show, with thick and chunky slices that are caramelized on the outside and creamy on the inside. The noodles are smooth and chewy, holding up perfectly with the delicious sauce mix that gives off a pleasant sheen. The sauce is full-bodied and bursting with richness, while the fried pork lard on the side adds a perfect crunch. The wantons are a class of their own, with plump size and crunchy prawns within, along with flavourful minced pork, celery, chestnut, mushrooms, and more. The soup is also a standout, with a clear chicken broth that is mildly savoury and rich in its aftertaste. The whole experience at Chef Kang's Noodle House is unparalleled and not you...

Huang Kee’s 黄记 Hong Kong Style Wanton Noodle: A Delicious Dumpling Soup Review

Along with their awesome wanton noodles , we tried out Huang Ji's dumpling soup for this dumpling soup food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Huang Ji's dumpling soup is usually sold out quite early into the afternoon as they are really that good and they do not make many of the dumplings. An order consisted of 5 pieces at $5 a bowl. So each piece was technically $1 a pop. And each dumpling was huge! Its filling was almost bursting out, filled with various stuff like marinated minced pork, turnip, and veggies. They were crunchy, savoury, full-bodied and definitely laboriously made and wrapped in silky skin. Soup was the usual broth that they use for their lovely wantons and noodles. A huge chunk of soften white radish was accompanied along with the 5 giant sized dumplings. Slightly pricey but definitely yummilicious dumplings to go along with Huang Ji's wanton noodles. Huang Kee’s 黄记 Hong Kong Style Wanton Noodle: A Flavorful Twist on Char Siew Wanton Noodles

Wondering what to eat at Seng Kang area? Any good wanton mee at Seng Kang? We headed down to one of our favourite stall, Huang Ji for their wanton noodles with Hongkong kailan for this food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Huang Ji or Huang Kee wanton noodles comprises of a thicker than usual mee kia, chewier with more bite to it. Their sauce was the central ingredient in making this vibrant dish pop. It was thick, subtly sweet and savoury, full-bodied and intricate. Coupled with their chunky char siew which were sweet and distinct, it was a match made in the heavenly kitchen. Rarely would you find other vegetables except for the usual cai xin. For Huang Ji, they have the crunchier and jucier Hongkong kailan, huge and pleasantly bitter to compliment the luscious and rich sauce. On the sides were 2 huge and crunchy deep fried wantons, full of fillings. Finally, floating in a deep and tasty soup were 2 plumper than ...

Lo Chan Kee’s Delicious Cantonese Wanton Noodles in AMK

Spoilt for wanton mee choices, we noticed that Lo Chan Kee Cantonese Wanton Noodles opened an outlet at Teck Ghee market and hence we gave it a try for this wanton mee food review. View this post on Instagram A post shared by YumzYumz.com (@yumzyumzsg) Noodles were the usual mee kia, chewy and springy, with slightly more pork lard added for the extra fragrance mixed into their sauce. In away, the other sauce flavour were covered by the pork lard, but still savoury. Wantons were rather small but still tasty but lacking in texture. Char siew slices were extremely unsatisfying, tough and bland, not exactly what we expected if they are expanding their business. Their signature dish should be great to warrant expansion. Finally, at $3.50, it was definitely filling with the quantity of noodles. Although Lo Chan Kee Cantonese Wanton Noodles's wanton noodles may lean towards a lackluster, it does carry some merits of a simple meal. However, we would definitely choose ...
